My Exciting Journey to Becoming a Reseller
Hi friends, I am a Christian reseller and sell used clothing for profit on apps such as Poshmark, eBay, and Mercari.
I became a reseller back in 2017 and had no clue what I was doing! We all start somewhere, right?! I raided my closet and found items that no longer sparked joy or fit me. After watching some youtube videos, I posted my first listing on Poshmark. Eventually, I got the hang of photographing items, what brands sold for a higher profit, and even got my family involved! With the extra money from reselling, I paid off some bills, extra spending money, it soon became a profitable side business. Basically a part-time job!
Within a year of reselling, I was determined to build a network on Instagram. Another daunting task because I had no clue what I was doing. Back to watching endless youtube videos and studying as much as I could. I started with less than 2-3k followers which most were family and friends. After many, and I say many failed attempts and trying different methods, my account started to blossom. I am very transparent with my journey. I began to teach my followers the same techniques I learned. In roughly a year, I reached 10,000 followers and couldn’t believe the number of people that wanted to follow my journey! What a blessing!
In 2019. I hosted my first in person posh n sip (if you are curious what a posh n sip is, check out this post) and met some incredible resellers in the New England area. We chatted about the importance of SEO, social media, and different methods to increase sales. With yummy donuts, a photo op area, goodie bags and friendships formed, attending a posh n sip is a great networking experience as a posher! Check out some photos…
Fast forward to 2023, the world flipped upside down and the economy has changed! Prices for everything has increased and people are being more cautious with their spending. My business model has shifted a bit and now I focus more on blogging, digital marketing and I still resell on the side but it is not my main focus. Reselling, even part-time, is challenging and not a quick way to get rich per say. I know many full-time resellers who work sometimes 6-7 days a week and are very successful at it but for me, with a full time job, reselling does help with extra money on the side!
